Spiral Classifier is a traditional type of classification equipment, mainly for metal mineral processing for the slurry density and particle size on the wet grade, mining operations could also be used in the flow desliming.

Log washer also called a spiral washer which is widely used in washing off silt and stains from manganese ore, iron ore and another low-grade mineral. Also it suitable for scrubbing material which contains tough insoluble clays, conglomerates or soft stone. This machine drive the spiral stirring shaft depends on speed reducer and rotate in different directions, and the minerals which enter the tank were washed by water and stir strongly by the blade. The sewage was overflowed at the end of tank, the cleaned minerals were lifted up along the blade and discharged at the beginning of the tank.


Features

(1) A spiral classifier consists of an inclined tank, in which one or two shaft-mounted, steel-ribbon helixes, or spirals, slowly rotate along the length of and parallel to the tank bottom. The spirals do not contact the bottom or sides of the tank. The spiral shaft, through its rotation, creates mild agitation in the tank pool and also conveys the settled solids out of the tank. The spiral extends out beyond the surface of the tank pool, allowing the coarse solids to dewater.

(2) The Spiral Classifier is available with spiral diameters up to 120″. These classifiers are built in three models with 100%, 125% and 150% spiral submergence with straight side tanks or modified flared or full flared tanks. All sizes and models are available with single-, double- or triple-pitch spirals. The Spiral Classifier offers the greatest sand raking capacity of any classifier available.

(3) The tank is a heavy plate with a strong structural base. The extra heavy shaft has an improved submerged bearing. The greatest improvements, however, are found in the drive-unit which has been strengthened and improved over all other classifiers. A specially designed classifier reducer eliminates the “overhang” or cantilevered load normally found where the reducer shaft carries the pinion. The Classifier Reducer has an outboard bearing integral with the reducer base which provides positive alignment of the bevel gears.

(4) The gears themselves are greatly improved as they are cast from metal patterns which have cut teeth. The accuracy of the patterns and the quality gear castings result in a cast-tooth gear of cut-tooth quality. The gears mesh smoothly, have greatly increased capacity and are noticeably more quiet than other spiral classifiers.

(5) Spiral Classifiers are available in sizes up to 120″ diameter, three tank styles, single, double and triple pitch spirals, three degrees of spiral submergence —flexibility to provide a unit built for your job. (1) With the aid of the principle that the solid particle size is different and the specific gravity is different, the settling velocity of solids in the slurry is different.

(2) The fine solid is discharged at the overflow weir,and the coarse particles sink to the bottom, driven by the spiral and discharge from the upper end of the classifier.
